The tutoring services are available from 2 September 2019 / 2 January 2020 onwards. Those who take part in the language courses in August will get a tutor from 1 August 2019 (Intensive Summer Course in Finnish) or 16 August 2019 (Intensive Summer Course in Academic English and Advanced Summer Course in English) onwards.

Documents to bring

Bring your passport and the letter of admission with you. You will need them for example when opening a bank account. If you come from the Eurozone, bring your online banking codes with you. If you do not have access to online banking yet, register for the service and obtain the required passwords before your arrival.

Bring enough money to pay for the rent (€ 220-350 per month), Survival Kit (€ 70; optional, available for exchange and visiting students) and the Student Union membership fee (€133.50 year, € 76/autumn semester, € 79 spring semester) (if you have not taken care of the fee beforehand).

Degree students: In addition to the documents mentioned above, you are required to present the original degree certificate of the degree which you used to demonstrate your eligibility in your application for admission. Please present the degree certificate at your Faculty before the start of your studies. If you have a Finnish personal identity code and have completed your previous degree in Finland in 2003 or thereafter, you do not need to present your educational documents, because the University has access to a national database which includes information on these degrees. Exceptions to this rule are National Defence University (Maanpuolustuskorkeakoulu), Novia University of Applied Sciences (Yrkeshögskolan Novia) and Åland University of Applied Sciences (Högskolan på Åland).

The orientation programme is designed to help new international students settle in and get to know each other, the University and the City of Jyväskylä. It is recommended that all new international students take part in the programme as it gives valuable information on studying and living in Jyväskylä. The orientation programme of the autumn semester 2019 will be organised on  3 - 6 September.
