How to apply to the University of Jyväskylä International Summer School in Human Sciences


Please fill in the online application form (ISEP students: see instructions below) by the application deadline 1 March 2019. There is no need to send a paper copy of the application.

After you have completed the online application, you are asked to register to the application system, enter your personal data and upload an official transcript of records. Your application is complete and will be processed only after you have followed all the steps of the application process and entered all the required information.

You can apply to 1- 4 courses (one course per week). For more information on the courses, please see the course descriptions.

ISEP students

If your home university is a member of the ISEP network, you may apply to the Summer School through the ISEP programme. More information about the ISEP programme is available here.

Students applying in the framework of the ISEP exchange programme should first contact their study abroad advisor or designated ISEP Coordinator at their home university and then submit an ISEP application through the ISEP online application system. ISEP students are welcome to apply to all the courses offered during the Summer School.

Application deadline

The application deadline is 1 March 2019.

Students will be notified of the admission to the Summer School by 15 March 2019 by e-mail. After receiving the notification of admission, applicants are requested to confirm their participation to the Summer School by 31 March 2019. The courses are arranged if at least 10 students have confirmed their participation to the course in question by 31 March 2019.

After the confirmation of participation those coming from abroad should reserve accommodation. The summer school accommodation at Kortepohja Student Village must be reserved through their webshop by 7 April (not applicable to ISEP students).

Target group

Students from partner universities of the University of Jyväskylä and students coming within the framework of ISEP Exchange are invited to apply to the Summer School. Also degree students of the University of Jyväskylä are welcome to apply.

Language requirements

The minimum requirement for students wishing to study at the Summer School in Human Sciences is level B1, but the applicants should preferably be B2 (or higher) level users of the English language in order to be able to follow university lectures in English, participate in seminar discussions and understand written material in their field. In addition, most courses require writing essays and written assignments in English. A language test certificate is not required from Summer School students. You can asses your language skills in English according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Participation fee

Participation fee is waived for students who are enrolled either at a partner university or at the University of Jyväskylä.
Fee-paying students from universities which are not partners with the University of Jyväskylä are not considered qualified applicants.

Cancellation policy

Participant should inform the International office about cancellation by e-mail  as soon as possible to . If the accommodation reservation is cancelled later than one month prior to the day the reservation starts, the participant may not be refunded the advance payment of the rent.
