Annual registration and duration of studies

Degree students must register at the University for each academic year for either attendance or non-attendance. Exchange students will be registered automatically based on the information given in Mobility-Online.

Degree students: Confirm your study place and register

After being accepted to study in a degree programme, you will have to accept your study place and register for your first study year. You may also need to pay the student health care fee.

Registration of continuing Master's degree students

All Master's degree students must register for attendance or non-attendance each academic year.

Late registration and regaining the right to study

If you did not register for attendance or non-attendance within the registration period, you will lose your right to study. Regaining the right to study requires re-registration.

Academic calendar and teaching periods

The academic year begins on 1 August and ends on 31 July. Teaching is offered during periods determined by the university.

Certificate of student status

The certificate of student status is a document of your study rights. You can download an electronically signed certificate from Sisu.

Duration of studies and extension of study time

Duration of degree studies

The duration of bachelor's and master's degree studies is limited. Registration for non-attendance is not included in the duration of studies.

Applying for an extension of study time

If the completion time of your studies is expiring and you need additional time for completing your degree, you may apply for an extension to the duration of studies or notify Student Services of a statutory reason for your absence.
